Search features

Updated:

This chapter belongs to the Manual with navigation tree. In addition to the search functions, you will also find the other functions of MusicServer Connect.

Add all tracks to the search database

  1. Connect MusicServer Connect to the desired music server.
  2. Open under MusicServer Connect the display All tracks.
  3. Empty the search field and wait for the full track list to appear.
  4. Click the track list and select Ctrl + A to select all tracks.
  5. Right-click on the selected titles to open the context menu. Choose Search DB → Add to database.
  6. Wait for VirtualDJ to finish recording. Then open the desired tree node and run the search there again.

The recording adds the selected titles to VirtualDJ's search database. It does not copy music files or trigger BPM analysis.

Repeat after adding new tracks

If new songs have been added to the music server, this process must be performed again:

  1. Let the music server add the new files to its catalog.
  2. Refresh the display in the plugin and open All tracks with an empty search field.
  3. Select all titles again and select Search DB → Add to database.
  4. Check the search for one of the new titles within the desired tree node.

You may select previously registered tracks again; selecting only new tracks is unnecessary for this process. Repeat it for the relevant tracks after switching servers too.

Plugin root and tree nodes

The search at the plugin root MusicServer Connect can return matches through a server query. Local search inside a tree node may still be incomplete until tracks are registered in the database. A match at the root does not prove that the same track is registered for node search.

Adding the displayed tracks through this menu is currently a required manual setup step. The plugin does not register them in VirtualDJ’s search database automatically.

If titles are still missing

  • Check if the title is under All tracks is present. If it is already missing there, check the catalog of the music server, if Ampache 7 that too Missing track-artist information.
  • Check whether the search field was empty when making the selection and whether all titles were actually selected.
  • Check whether the VirtualDJ search option is activated for searching in the current folder and whether title or artist are selected as search fields.
